The site on Watson Road, which was cleared last year, has been earmarked for 44 houses including 27 two-bedroomed homes, 15 three-bedroomed homes and two bungalows.

A planning application has been lodged with Blackpool Council for the scheme jointly by M.C.I. Developments Limited, Muir Housing Group Limited and Zell-em Group Limited.

It adds: “The resultant scheme will if approved provide 44 new much needed energy efficient homes with the intention that they will all be built for Muir Housing Group, with all units being for affordable rent.

“The development will contribute towards the ongoing vitality of this part of Blackpool by helping to provide new modern energy efficient affordable homes for local people.”

Ward councillor Kim Critchley has previously welcomed fresh investment on the site, particularly if it included affordable housing.

The development, which includes 54 car parking spaces, will now go before town hall planners at a future date for consideration.
