A Blackpool man, 60, accused of historic sex offences

A Blackpool man accused of wounding and sex offences has had the first hearing of his court case.

Richard Beattie, 60, of Miller Street, Blackpool, faces allegations dating back to 1971.

Beattie did not attend the hearing which was adjourned by Blackpool magistrates until Friday.

He is charged with malicious wounding a woman in Telford, Shropshire, wounding the same woman with intent and two allegations of assaulting her causing actual bodily harm.

He is further accused of sexually assaulting a boy under the age of 16 and 10 counts of raping a woman and a girl under the age of 14.

He is also accused of indecently assaulting a girl and two allegations of raping a girl under 16 and indecently assaulting the girl.

Beattie faces two more charges of rape and a final charge of assault.
