Proposals for a new shopfront as part of the ongoing refurbishment of the Winter Gardens have been given the go-ahead.
Council planners approved an application to replace an aluminium frontage with a new timber facade.
They said the changes, to the unit on Coronation Street, would be more in keeping with the Grade II listed building.
A report says: “The existing aluminium shopfront and solid roller shutter are significantly detrimental to the appearance and integrity of the Grade II listed building and the replacement with a timber shopfront and stall riser is a positive step forward in restoring and enhancing the appearance of the complex.”
The report adds: “Overall it is considered the scheme would significantly enhance the appearance of the Coronation Street elevation.”
Blackpool Council, which owns the Winter Gardens, is proposing to eventually refurbish all the shopfronts along Church Street and Coronation Street.
