It is safe to say that Covid-19 has affected us all in one way or another. Westmorland Homecare knows that many people are frightened of considering care, especially at this time.

However, their trained carers can offer everything from light visits for companionship and medication checks to shopping trips, complex care and dementia care, keeping you and your loved ones safe in their own home for longer. Their service specialises in keeping people independent in their own home for as long as possible, they promise to send the same carers at times their clients choose, continuity of care is a foundation the company was built on.

Russell Crossley, Westmorland director, said: “We set up Westmorland as we wanted to see a better standard in home care. More people are realising that care at home is a positive option. It costs less than a care home and it means that people can stay independent.

“That way you can stay in your own home, with your own family, visitors and possessions around you, and adapt the care provided to match your changing needs.”

The Social Care Institute for Excellence predicts that demand for in home care will increase, with the number of older people expected to grow in the next 50 years by 81 per cent for over 65s, and an incredible 255 per cent for over 85s.

The demand for increased home care hours is expected to rise by 137 per cent.

Local client Joan said: “I want to remain in my home for as long as possible. Home is where I am happy and is where all my memories are.

“Plus, I don’t think all my belongings would fit into a care home!”

Russell added: “We want our clients to continue to live their lives to the full. We want to keep the clients’ routines, and as such we will adapt our services to suit them.

“They choose the schedule and they even choose the carers they want. That allows us to provide a truly personalised and trusted service to our clients.”

Rebecca Ashmore, the company’s manager said “Covid-19 has been extremely difficult for all people. Over the last five months we have all had to adapt to a slightly new way of living and as a result, more and more people are looking for assistance in their own homes.

She added: “We are extremely proud to announce that during the pandemic we have had no cases of Covid-19 amongst clients or staff. That is purely down to the excellent service our super HCA’s deliver on a daily basis.”

The service operates throughout Lancashire, including Lytham St Annes, Blackpool, Poulton-Le-Fylde, Thornton, Cleveleys, Fleetwood, Hambleton, Stalmine, Preesall Knott-End, Pilling and Garstang.
