A mother-of-six from Wyre has slammed the actions of people who are ignoring the coronavirus lockdown as her nine-year-old son waits to hear about important medical test results.

Louise Ogden, 36, of Mains Lane, Little Singleton, has even criticised some of her friends for not obeying the distancing guidelines during the lockdown which has had an impact on her son Kaason, who suffers from cerebral palsy and has a feeding peg due to having eosinophiliic oesophagitis, which prevents him swallowing. School in Thornton, was due to have important hospital appointments last month following but these have been cancelled due to lockdown. The youngster only weighs 18kg due to his health conditions and is susceptible to catching infections easily.

Community care worker Louise said: “Back in October Kaason woke up and was not able to move his left arm so we went to Blackpool Victoria. After three weeks we got a MRI scan where we discovered the cerebellum part of his brain had shrunk.

“We were all set up for appointments in March and April at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool and another in Manchester but obviously with what’s going on at the moment they have all been cancelled.

“However fast forward to now, despite being a key worker I have had to finish work to keep my boy safe because of this unknown brain condition but some people are still going about their lives as normal and not listening to the Government’s announcements. Just through social media I have seen people having garden parties, still nipping round to see family and even friends going to the beach for a barbecues.”

“What is annoying me more than anything is people blatantly posting stuff such as two friends in a garden drinking. People need shaming. They think because they’re family or friends that they’re all right doing it but it’s putting a stress on the NHS when we’re at a time when it needs all the support that it can get.”

Louise believes people who have been flouting the guidelines are not just selfish but ‘genuinely putting lives at risk’.

She said: “As a family, we are sat at home waiting for people to listen and stay at home so in the long run we can be seen by Kaason’s health specialists. I just want people to stop being selfish.

“Lots of people are missing treatment while people are moaning that they are bored of being at home. I just feel like shouting, ‘You’re not stuck at home, you’re safe at home!’ but some people clearly don’t get how serious the situation everyone is facing is.”

Louise said Kaason along with siblings Shaay, 13, Taalor, nine, Lolaa, five, Maason, five and Laaston, three, have been staying within the house and garden only because there is that many of them ‘it’s not appropriate’ for them to go out.

Louise added: “I am only doing a shop once a week and I make sure everything is disinfected before it comes home. Alan has also stopped his self-employment work to make sure we are all safe at home.

“We are getting by fine and saving around £400 a month in fuel costs and £100 in swimming lesson fees at the moment which is a bonus.”

She has also made sure friends and family are aware of her stance of naming and shaming and has even made her social media posts public so they can be shared.

On one of her Facebook posts, Louise said: “Those caught partying or not doing social distancing, meeting their friends like it’s a holiday should be made to go and meet the families of those who are suffering, watching their loved ones suffer and be made to do community service on the front line.

“Those with teenagers who are refusing to stay in and going out meeting their mates, refuse them to come back into your house risking you and their siblings catching it. They will soon listen.”
