James had just returned from a working on a cruise ship in America and they began chatting. They clicked, found out they had lots of mutual interests, and the rest is history.

Sophie said: “Our wedding day was super special to us as all, our family and friends could come, we had guests travelling from everywhere - Canada, Southampton, Durham!

“As part of the father of the bride’s speech he did a Mr and Mrs game, they had bought blue and pink paddles and myself and James stood back to back as my dad asked us questions.

“He asked things like who’s the most romantic, who can drink the most, who has the most common sense. We got a match on every question apart from who is the messiest - which is the only thing we ever argue about!

“My mum did a lot of the planning and organising of the wedding, she has got a good eye for detail and she had planned lots of little bits.

“We had a lovely confetti bar from Adamapple and she had made her own sweet buffet for the children. She had also done a collage of old and new photos which included all of the day guests. She had even found the invite from my Grandad’s mum and dad’s wedding which was dated 1929! It was a lovely touch as there were pictures of people who unfortunately are not with us anymore - so it was nice to feel like they were a part of our day.”

James’ best man Wayne Boothroyd entertained guests with a speech that was worded round the song Bohemian Rhapsody. Sophie said: “Singing the song is his party trick and later in the day he did his rendition on stage with microphone and everything!”

The couple chose music which was very special to them with meaningful lyrics.

Sophie and her bridesmaids walked into the ceremony to Nathan Sykes’ Over and Over Again.

“For our first dance we were undecided for a while what to choose,” said Sophie.

“Then James Arthur brought out Say You Won’t Let Go a couple of months before the wedding and the first time we heard it we were in the car together driving back to Blackpool - and we both said this is the song!”

James said: “The day was so special to me as I got to tell the love of my life that I want to spend the rest of my life with her. It was such an amazing experience that we got to share with all of our loved ones, I will cherish the memory of that day forever.

Sophie added: “The whole day was perfect from start to finish! We were surrounded by our lovely family and the best of friends. And of course I got to marry the love of my life James, he is the kindest person with the biggest heart. I am so excited for our future together as Mr and Mrs Fletcher.”

The couple are now living in Manchester.
