UK coronavirus deaths soar to 759, with two deaths confirmed in Lancashire in past 24 hours

A total of 759 people have now died in the UK after testing positive for coronavirus.

It means 181 people have died in the last 24 hours, according to the latest figures from the Department of Health and Social Care, released this afternoon (Friday, March 27).

As of 9am today, a total of 113,777 have been tested: 99,198 negative and 14,579 positive.

As of 5pm yesterday (March 26), 759 of those hospitalised have died.

In the past 24 hours, two people have died from COVID-19 in Lancashire.

A 90-year-old man and 89-year-old woman, both with underlying health conditions, died at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The latest figures for the number of confirmed cases and deaths across Lancashire is expected to be published later today.
