The review team, which is visiting 14 hospital trusts across the country, will undertake its work over three stages. The probe begins on June 17.

A report, due to go before Blackpool Council’s health scrutiny committee, which is chaired by Coun John Boughton, on Thursday, sets out a programme which includes information gathering and analysis, a rapid response review and a risk summit.

The report says: “Forums will be arranged with patients, staff and the public to provide an opportunity for each of these groups to share their views with the review team.”

The first phase will see a review of clinical data and includes patient and staff views, while the rapid response review will see a team of clinicians, managers and patient representatives visit the hospital. A final report, setting out what improvements may be required, will be made public.
