Homeless admitted to Vic as council headcount reveals number of town's '˜verified rough sleepers'

Two homeless people were admitted to Blackpool Victoria Hospital last year, while 15 turned up for treatment but were not admitted, figures released by the NHS trust that runs it showed.

The numbers were revealed under a Freedom of Information request, which asked for the “number of patients presenting at your A&E/urgent care centres whose address is recorded as no fixed abode”.

Blackpool had 13 “verified rough sleepers”, a council headcount last November found. “We would estimate that, at the moment, we probably have about 15 per night, although this will vary,” a spokeswoman said.
