Over 110 COVID-19 related deaths recorded in Lancashire in one week

A total of 2,414 people have now died in hospital in Lancashire after contracting Covid-19.

The latest figures from NHS England show 114 COVID-19 deaths have been recorded in Lancashire from Monday, January 11 to Sunday, January 17.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recorded 17 fatalities, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust recorded 61, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recorded 14 and University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust recorded 22.

The statistics include patients who died in hospital - but not other places, such as care homes.

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust - 800

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - 556

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust* - 436

* Note: As well as the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, this trust also runs two hospitals outside Lancashire - Furness General Hospital, in Barrow, and Westmorland General Hospital, in Kendal - so it is not possible to say how many of the deaths were in Lancashire.
