Libraries go online to bring the world of books to Fylde coast people in lockdown

Lancashire libraries are expanding a range of online services to help people who cannot get and about in the coronavirus lockdown.

Blackpool Council’s library team is boosting an expanded range of online and social media resources and activities for adults and youngsters who can no longer visit the town’s library buildings.

The team is investing in its digital output and looking at offering new and enhanced virtual services to bring libraries to people in their homes.

Already an entertaining online activity programme has been launched which includes bed time stories for children.

Also on its way is additional free to access digital content, including daily newspapers and a range of new comics and graphic novels, which are going to be added to the existing e-Magazine, e-Book and e-Audio services. It is hoped that these new features will be ready to go in time for Easter.

Our team is passionate about the services that they offer and the people that use our many different resources.
