Fourth Blackpool school sends pupils home after a case of coronavirus

A fourth Blackpool school has sent pupils home after a child tested positive for Covid-19.

Bispham Endowed Church of England Primary has written wrote to parents and carers of the child's bubble group instructing them to keep their youngsters at home for 14 days.

The letter from headteacher Michelle Warburton said: "I am writing to inform you that a child in the school has tested positive for Covid-19.

"The parents and carers of the bubble group have been informed. Government/local guidance and advice has been followed."

Bispham Endowed has followed Westcliffe Primary Academy, also in Bispham, St John Vianney Catholic Primary in Glastonbury Avenue and Armfield Academy in South Shore in sending pupils home.

Ar Westcliffe Academy the school has closed down for at least 48 hours because teachers are self-isolating after two cases were confirmed.

St John Vianney School is believed to have two positive cases and has sent home Year One pupils and some from Year Four.

And Year Eight pupils at Armfield Academy have been sent home to isolate after one of them tested positive.

At Bispham Endowed Mrs Warburton told parents: "As advised by the local authority we will be closing the class bubble concerned for a 14-day self-isolation period.

"We fully understand that parents may have some concerns, so please take time to read the guidance.

"The safety and well-being of our school family is paramount. We will continue to follow public health guidance and inform parents and carers of any further updates."
