Results day means it’s time to consider options

For many, there were squeals of excitement as they realised their hard work had paid off and they could carry onto the next step of their journey– whether it be education or employment.

For those who did not get the grades they were hoping for, the message from education bosses is: don’t panic.

Staff at Blackpool and The Fylde College are among those local experts on hand to help.

A spokesman said: “Whatever job, career or Higher Education goals you aspire to we can help you achieve them even if you are disappointed with your GCSE results.

“Please don’t let your results deter you from your chosen career. There is a course available for you at Blackpool and The Fylde College where you can expect all the support and encouragement you need to get that dream job.”

Jon McLeod, head of admissions at Blackpool Sixth Form College, said students concerned with their results can talk to staff between 10am and 5pm today and 9am and 5pm on Friday.

If further education isn’t your cup of tea, apprenticeships are a good way of getting onto the career ladder.

A road show is being held at Sports Direct on Bank Hey Street, Blackpool, every day this week and next between 10am and 4pm as part of Blackpool Council’s campaign to create 100 apprentices in 100 days .

A spokesman for Blackpool Council said: “With exams results in and many young people leaving school for the first time, there are loads of options available to get into work or training.”
