Pupils pour into their school's potions dungeon
Youngsters from Weeton Primary School had a great time celebrating World Book Day last week.
Teaching assistant Sonya Jenkinson, the Snow Queen, mixed potions in Year 4, which was turned into Hogwarts for the day with Professor Snape – also known as class teacher Bramhall – in charge, teaching the children how to use a quill.
Here the children give their views on the day.

Hide AdWe read Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Chapter 8, called the Potion Master.
Mr Bramhall, our class teacher, was Professor Snape for the day.
He made a potion with unicorn blood, dragon blood, and unicorn horn and it exploded everywhere.
Then we made our own potions and we used leech juice, essence of ditty, moon dust and volcanic rock to make it crackley and we drank it.

Hide AdI tasted like fizzy lemonade and it crackled in your mouth and we loved it.
Lucy Allen – Year 4
On World Book Day we read Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Chapter 8 – The Potions Master.
Our classroom was transformed into the potions dungeon and our teacher, Mr Bramhall, became Professor Snape for the day. We got to make all different potions.
For the potion which exploded we used unicorn blood, human blood, rhino horns and dragon blood.

Hide AdFor my potion I used doxy venom, mandrake leaf, volcanic rock, spider venom, venomous tentacular and moon dust.
When we added the essence of dittany, doxy venom and volcanic rock, the potion started to fizz – that’s why I called my potion Fizzy Fountain Potion.

On World Book Day our class became Hogwarts and our teacher, Mr Bramhall, came dressed as Professor Snape and we made potions in groups.
We got to drink it all up. My friend did not like it.
The stuff we used was called doxy venom, spider’s venom, gill water, and moon dust.
It tasted like lemonade and fizzy pop.

Hide AdAfter that we did a Swaperama where we went in different classrooms – in Year 5, then Year 6 and Year 3.
We did writing ‘What’s In The Picture’ in Year 5; colouring in Year 6; and in Year 3 we made a book.
