“The end goal is to become a chartered accountant in the private industry. After uni I will do a four-year qualification. That’s the plan!”

Jacob Hall, 18, from Preston Old Road in Blackpool, achieved A*s in geography, law, and an extended project on capital punishment, and an A in maths. He said he’s not sure what the future holds for him yet.

He said he now plans to go to Bristol University to study law, but added: “I’d like to keep my options open.

“It’s been very hard but I have put the work in. I did a lot better this year than last.”

He said he also plans to travel, having already been to Nepal and India.
