Lancashire primary school pupil tests positive for coronavirus

Pupils at a village school are self-isolating after one of their schoolmates tested positive for coronavirus.

The youngsters had all been attending Newton Bluecoat CE Primary near Preston and in line with current regulations are grouped in small bubbles.

However, the school, in Newton-with-Scales, has not been closed following advice from Public Health England and lessons are continuing as normal for children from keyworker families and those from other years who had recently returned back to class.

Like school across the county, the majority of pupils are not yet back at school.

A statement from Lancashire County Council said: " The school is keeping parents and carers updated,but any who have concerns should get in touch with the school directly."
