Lancashire GCSE results 2021 LIVE: Students receive their results after exams cancelled for second year in row

We are so incredibly proud of our Year 11 students who received their results today. Students were invited to come into school to collect their results, speak to their teachers and celebrate with friends and parents. We had many high achievers and overall 72% of students received a grade of 4 or higher in both Maths and English with 83% Grade 4+ in English and 75% Grade 4+ in Maths. 53% of students received Grade 5 or higher in both Maths and English.

Headteacher Andrew Waller says, "All the staff at Carr Hill High School are very proud of the achievements of our Year 11. These students have had the most challenging two years and thoroughly deserve the results they have achieved today which reflect hard work and commitment, especially through the rigorous assessment period of the final few months. These grades genuinely reflect the performance of students across their years of study and will open doors for them as they prepare for the next stage of their lives. We wish all our students every success as they move on to college and apprenticeships."

Parents enjoyed taking photos and celebrating with their children, including proud parents of twin boys who are turning 16 today! Other parents were beaming with pride and recognising the achievements of their sons and daughters in difficult circumstances. Many are looking forward to celebrating their success over the coming days and weeks, enjoying the last of the Summer holidays before moving onto local colleges, Sixth Forms and Apprenticeships in the new academic year. The Carr Hill community wishes them all the very best for the future - massive congratulations and well done for all the hard work.

Baines School is really proud of the excellent achievements of our Year 11 students. It was a pleasure to see them receive their GCSE and Vocational qualifications. The last eighteen months have been a challenge for everyone, but our students have been amazing in their work ethic, resilience and flexibility to adapt to the changes the government made to the way their GCSE results would be awarded.

Top achievers are: Abi Marginson, Ashleigh Hamilton and Jerry Kakkanatuu. They have all achieved outstanding results. Abi and Ashleigh achieved nine grade 9s and Jerry achieved seven and a Distinction star.

Ella-Mae Fitzpatrick, Antonia Foote, Thomas Nassari and Leyla Ozpercin all achieved a Distinction star which is the top grade for vocational subjects.

A special mention also for Bryn Cronshaw, Khensani Mabunda, Jazmin Graham, Eren Dervish, Ella Marrs, Grace Rylatt, Freya Shields and Amy Stott who all achieved above their target grade in every subject.

Rossall School teachers and pupils have much cause to celebrate following another year of exceptional achievement.

Over 55 per cent of all entries awarded this summer were a grade 7 or above, with an astounding fifth of all grades achieving the coveted grade 9.

Art, Latin as well as our enrichment subjects Ancient Greek, Business Studies and Mandarin are all celebrating 100 per cent of their grades being 7 - 9.

Furthermore, almost all subjects, including the core English, Maths and Science, had over half of their entries at grade 7 or above.

Given the importance of examination experience and the need to ensure the best possible preparation for Sixth Form courses, Rossall School once again ran its own internal Rossall GCSE Diploma examinations.

These rigorous assessments were designed to fully replicate the experience of preparing for and sitting public examinations.

The results of these are standalone achievements and a testament to the hard work and determination of Rossall pupils but this year also formed an important part of the final grades that each pupil was awarded.

A Poulton secondary school is celebrating its pupils achievements as they collect their GCSE results after facing "unprecedented disruption" to their learning this year.

Iain Siddall, headteacher at the Academy in Moorland Road, congratulated year 11 pupils on their "resilience and determination" during a year which saw myriad disruptions including periods of home learning during the pandemic.

Mr Siddall said: "We congratulate the Class of 2021 on the well-deserved results they have received today. Having faced unprecedented disruption to their education over the last 18 months, each and every grade has been hard-earned and reflects the determination and resilience they have shown.

Pupils and staff at Highfield Leadership Academy are celebrating GCSE results day after overcoming a year of pandemic disruption.

Pupils and staff from the school faced a difficult year as they worked to counter disruption caused by lockdown, periods of self-isolation and illness. Exams were cancelled this summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Exam boards issued qualifications based on grades determined by teachers following assessments and tests completed in school.

Despite these challenges, teachers say that pupils at the school secured excellent results by working with an exceptional level of commitment throughout the year.

Today, pupils are celebrating their achievements as they collect their results and take their next steps towards their dream careers.

Lee Black, who is a senior prefect, has been awarded a scholarship to study A levels at Rossall School thanks to his talent and commitment to his education. Lee secured eight grade 9s in English, Maths, Science, Geography, RE, Creative iMedia and Health and Fitness and two grade 7s in French and English Literature. He is also a gifted swimmer and footballer, who trains with Fleetwood Academy. During his time at Highfield Leadership Academy, Lee proved his ability to work as part of a team when he helped the school team to win a prestigious Young Engineers Competition.

For school prefect Emily White, the pandemic meant months of isolation as she shielded with a medical condition. Despite this challenge, the talented pupil was successful in two writing competitions - the Lancashire ‘Lockdown Diaries’ and ‘Outside the Window’ through Future You - and was also part of the team that won an award from Blackpool Coastal Housing for delivering a digital silver surfer programme. Emily secured 10 GCSEs at grade 9 to 6, most notably grade 9s in Science, Health & Fitness and Creative iMedia. She plans to study Biology, Chemistry and English Literature A-levels and is currently reviewing offers from local colleges.

Head girl Maria Preda is a founding member of the school’s Anti Bullying Alliance and was part of the team responsible for achieving the school’s Diana Award for anti-bullying. Maria was awarded four grade 8s including English, Maths and French along with four Grade 7s and two grade 6s thanks to her hard work and commitment.

Samia Hoque is a senior prefect whose hard work has helped her to secure a scholarship to Rossall School where she will study A levels. The community spirited pupil helped to support people living in isolation as part of the school’s ‘silver surfer’ project during the pandemic. The diligent pupil secured five grade 9s in Computer Science, Mathematics, Science, Health & Fitness and Italian, a grade eight in Geography and grade 7s in English Literature and Language.

Charlie Standing is the first pupil from Highfield Leadership Academy to receive a Headmaster’s scholarship to AKS Lytham Independent school. Charlie, who is a senior prefect and has worked as an anti-bullying ambassador at Highfield, was awarded the scholarship after impressing teachers with his talent during an admissions interview. Charlie will be studying A levels in Biology, Psychology and History and hopes to study Psychology and Biology at university.

Andrew Galbraith, Principal at Highfield Leadership Academy, said that he was very proud of this year’s cohort of GCSE pupils and their achievements that had been earned during a time of exceptional challenge.

He said: “This year, our pupils have demonstrated an extraordinary level of commitment to their education and also to supporting one another and those living in the local community.

“I am immensely proud of all our pupils and staff who have all worked so very hard throughout the pandemic. Despite the incredible challenges this year has presented, our pupils have achieved incredible results with four of our pupils being offered prestigious scholarships to study at Rossall School and AKS Lytham.

“Congratulations to all our pupils collecting results today, and a huge thank you to everyone who has helped to support our pupils to achieve their best during these difficult times.”

At the beginning of the year the government announced that the 2021 examinations would not be sat again this summer due to the upheaval the pandemic has had on children’s education. The government decided the fairest way to award grades was for students to have a range of evidence, covering all their courses, and their teachers to then award grades based on this evidence. Across the country, every student and teacher worked hard, ensuring work was completed, marked and moderated – a huge task which our outstanding teachers worked tirelessly on.

We knew that our Year 11 2021 leavers were set to achieve some of the best grades the school had seen across all their subjects, and we are proud of their determination, resilience and work ethic right up until their leaving day. May I also take this opportunity to thank our parents, who have been supportive of their children and of our school – Team Millfield at its best!

We are incredibly proud of our students’ results and believe that they are a true reflection of what they would have achieved if they had sat their exams in summer. Our students can now look forward to the next step in their life journey, knowing that they have done their absolute best in the face of the unknown.

After what only can be described as the most challenging of times, I am proud and humbled by how our Year 11 pupils at Brownedge St Mary’s have risen to the challenges that this year has presented to them.

Today our pupils receive their GCSE results and amidst the difficulties and changes to the examination process, the light that shines through reflects the pride we have as a f

amily: of their resilience, dedication and adaptability. We are incredibly proud of how they have weathered the storm, showing their hard work, fortitude and commitment to their studies. Their resolve and courage in overcoming the adversity they have faced is astounding for such young people.

Brownedge pupils continue to go from strength to strength. Our results have been improving over recent years and this year is no exception. However, we know our pupils are so much more than the GCSE results they achieve. They have inspired us all and truly have excelled in our school mission of ‘letting their light shine’. They are in a strong position to step out onto their next journey in learning, and able to make a difference to the world around them.

Once again, our Brownedge family has proved that, with determination, and a dream, anything is possible.

Once again, the diversity of accomplishments is testament to the level of engagement both in and beyond the classroom, reflecting the growing recognition of the positive impact that experiences gained out of the classroom have on academic results.

Examples include Miranda Addy, nine 9s, a talented Germanist, multi-instrumentalist and member of the prestigious Halle Youth Choir, who recently completed her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award; Ben Bithell, nine 9s, a valued member of our school quiz team. A full sweep of nine 9s was also achieved by gifted Francophile, Amelia Battle, talented mathematician, Max McGregor and artist, Bella Mollart. Talented all-round sportsman, Yash Passi, who joined at the end of Year 9 gained seven 9s and two 8s, alongside playing for the school 1st teams in football, tennis and cricket.

These outcomes are a tribute to the students’ resilience and studious approach over the last eighteen months, through three lockdowns and during times when they may have had to isolate. We are grateful to our staff and school community for ensuring the continuity of education and co-curricular programme as the speed of transition to and the quality of our remote learning ensured that they remained on or indeed ahead of target in all curriculum areas.

Headmaster David Harrow said: “Perhaps more than ever, the importance of diligence, resilience and flexibility have come to the fore in recent months. I am delighted to celebrate the qualifications achieved by our students today and their thoroughness and perseverance alongside their teachers over the past year and a half.

This is not just about those who achieved straight ‘9’s: every single student has faced unprecedented challenges and the breadth of their experiences, efforts and adventures of this period has been remarkable. The support, friendship and spirit shown and shared by the whole school community has led to these well-deserved outcomes.

As with any strong team, they have supported each other, keeping each other going in the toughest of times and encouraging each other to rise to the challenge. I am incredibly excited to see this super year group move into the Sixth Form and the next phase of their education”.

A day of smiles at students celebrate “amazing results to mark the end of an extraordinary two years”

Students at Fulwood Academy are celebrating after receiving their much-anticipated GCSE results today.

Mark Tudor, Vice Principal, said: “While it is impossible to compare these results with any other, it is important to stress that our students have done all that has been asked of them, and more, over the last two years. In the face the challenges that have been posed by the pandemic, they have worked relentlessly to achieve today’s amazing GCSE results.”

Among those who were smiling was caring Livsharan Kaur, who achieved an impressive 9 in Maths and English, four 8s and two 7s.

In addition, Livsharan returned to the school after she had completed her studies earlier this year, and has been heavily involved in mentoring, supporting, and working with other students as part of Fulwood Academy’s apprenticeship programme. She has also been heavily involved in the academy’s initiative to deliver food parcels to the community.

Lilly Dixon was another student who was, quite literally, on cloud 9 as she secured a host of the very top grades.

Mr Tudor added: “These results once again show that this school is on a very exciting trajectory.

“The last year has been tough on us all, but the progress that our students, and our wider school, have made at every level has been incredible. Collectively we are moving forward with pace and purpose – and we look forward to further celebrations when our Ofsted report is released in September.

“This really is a community effort. Our students, our staff and, crucially, our parents have come together so well during the pandemic to support our young people. The smiling faces that we are seeing today is testament not just to their talents, skills and determination of our students, but a sign of what we can achieve by working together.

“Today we are celebrating amazing results, for extraordinary students who have been through an extraordinary two years.”

Lostock Hall Academy is once again pleased to report some outstanding achievements by its students in their GCSEs and other qualifications this summer. This is particularly rewarding to see, after what has been a challenging 18 months for these students.

Following the cancellation of exams, grades have been awarded through a rigorous process of teacher assessed grades, quality assured against a national standard and approved by the exam awarding bodies. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic. These results are to be greatly valued and celebrated as they have not been an easy achievement for all involved.

A significant number of students achieved top grades in a wide range of subjects including Art & Design, Biology, Chemistry, English Language, English Literature, French, History, Maths, Photography and Physics.

We are pleased to report that similarly impressive numbers of students achieved and exceeded the standards in English and Maths this year, as they have done in many previous years.

As a result of hard work, students have made excellent progress and have achieved equally impressive results across a wide range of subjects, maintaining our usual high standards.
