Year Six youngsters brought their time at Heyhouses Primary School in St Annes in touching style with this video presentation recorded and organised by music teacher Sandra Powlesland.

Headteacher Elizabeth Hodgson said: "The leavers’ song is a credit to the children and to the musical skill of Mrs Powlesland.

" It is a beautiful example of Heyhouses School Spirit and brings to life the words of our school hymn - Many hands make a house, but many hearts make our school.

"Since March and the start of lockdown, Heyhouses has been split into ‘key worker’ groups of children in school and children home learning.

"From being a school with 620 children on site we had less than 100 on site and 500 at home.

"School was very strange and quiet for the first few days but then we found ways to make it work for our children and our families.

"But the Heyhouses Family has remained strong throughout the pandemic.

"We have all learned how to keep in touch in different ways; through letters, emails, Zoom, YouTube and Twitter.

"The Headteacher has written a daily letter to the children since March 18th, today’s letter on July 16th will be her 121st letter.

"The children have sent in photos and memories to go in these letters - they are a record of our school family during difficult days.

"The last week has seen us saying farewell to our wonderful Year Six children as they leave primary school for secondary school.

"Instead of the usual events we have moved to smaller outdoor presentations, films of their days here at Heyhouses and this leavers’ song recorded and organised by one of our Music teachers, Mrs Sandra Powlesland.

"We wish all our Year 6 Leavers happiness and success in the future."
