The select group of year eights from Carr Hill High School in Kirkham received expert advice from Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde Athletics Club coach Kevin Davies.

She added: “We’re very grateful to Mr Davies for coming in and delivering what was a most enjoyable session.”

Pupils agreed and said they have picked up a host of tips which they plan to use to improve their technique.

Ellie Mullins and Lucy Tickle were two of 12 students chosen to take part.

Ellie said: “The session was really fun and Mr Davies was really encouraging.
