Council, college, and uni sign deal to boost healthcare across the Fylde coast

Blackpool Council, Blackpool and The Fylde College, and Lancaster University are working together to boost healthcare on the Fylde coast.

Representatives met to sign a deal that it is hoped will see outcomes for patients improved.

The college said that “by combining research, training and education, and service delivery, the new partnership will act as a catalyst for improved health outcomes.”

The agreement also marks the first time one of the UK’s top unis will have a significant research presence in Blackpool, the college added.

The alliance will back Lancaster’s new ‘Health Innovation Campus’ and its work to drive new technologies, products, and ways of working.

Council chief executive Neil Jack (inset) said he was “delighted Blackpool will be a hub for sharing knowledge, new ideas, and thinking that will shape and strengthen the provision of quality health and social care services to our communities.”

The new Fylde Coast Health and Social Care Career Academy was one example put forward.
