Schools are asked to nominate a team of five students from Year 9 and/or 10 to represent your school in the challenge, which will take place on Monday February 4 at Blackpool and The Fylde College.

The most successful teams will then be invited to take part in the final on Friday March 22 when one school will win the top prize of £10,000 with the runner up taking away a £2,000 prize.

The challenge will comprise the design and manufacture of a balloon vehicle. The main objective of the project is to encourage students to enjoy the challenge of problem solving, whilst using science and mathematics to prove Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion, whilst working as a team to achieve the best design with winning potential.

Fuller details will be given at a briefing meeting at B&FC on Thursday January 10 (4.30pm to 6pm) and an information pack will be forwarded to participating schools.
