The high-performing college is opening its doors to show prospective students how it’s helping young people achieve their best.

Blackpool Sixth Principal, Jill Gray, explains: “We appreciate that for busy families, it’s not always easy to find time to attend open days. However, we know that these events are crucial in helping young people decide on their next step.”

“You can see for how we achieve our outstanding Ofsted rating and our results speak for themselves.”

Blackpool Sixth’s dedicated team of team of teachers, staff and student ambassadors will be on hand during the open day to take students through all elements of campus life.

The open events, according to Principal Gray provide an excellent opportunity for students to see the site’s cutting edge facilities, find out more information about studying with Blackpool Sixth and meet with staff and students to ask any questions they might have.

She added: “This is also a great opportunity for you to get a feel of what it’s like as a Blackpool Sixth student. We pride ourselves on our friendly, welcoming and incredibly supportive college community and you’ll be able to experience that first-hand.

“You’ll be able to learn about the courses we have on offer, speak to teachers, see our outstanding classroom facilities and talk to our current students about what life is like studying at Blackpool Sixth. We’ll have lots of activities going on throughout the day.”

Blackpool Sixth prides itself on helping every student achieve their best.

In August Blackpool Sixth had a 100 per cent pass rate for 50 courses and a 100 per cent pass rate for BTEC level 3. Half of A level grades were A*, A or B and 87% of BTEC level 3 students received the highest possible grade of distinction star.

Principal Gray added: “It’s the highlight of my calendar year, seeing the students get the results they want and seeing the teachers support them on their journey.”

“Every student is important to us. Every student comes with the aim of getting the best for themselves and we’ll help them to achieve it. And an open day can help them see how we do that.”

Blackpool Sixth’s figures represent the individual successes of its students and their ability to progress to the next stage whether it be university, higher apprenticeships or other forms of employment with training.

Its next open day will also offer additional practical information including financial and transport advice.

And Blackpool Sixth’s catering company, Hutchison will have its outlets open, including Starbucks. There will also be live-theatre cooking taking place, where students can sample and see some of the typical meals current students have each day.

Visit Blackpool Sixth at its Open Day on November 9 between 10.30am and 2.30pm or to find out more information go to their website.
