The Quirky Tea Rooms, which opened in Park Road in 2016, is switching to the cafe site at Park View playing fields.

Proprietor Carla Wood says the new location is ideal for the business, which she feels has outgrown its original home, as customers flocked to it from ever greater distances ahead of lockdown.

Carla and her manager Naj Ejebbli have kept the business going while the premises have been closed during the restrictions to tackle the coronavirus pandemic, with a weekend afternoon tea delivery service and are currently busy making preparations to move into the new base.

“It’s really exciting and we are so much looking forward to it,” said mum-of-two Carla.

“Park View is an ideal location, with more space, great outdoor accommodation and at the heart of a very popular family attraction.

“We hope to be open for takeaways as soon as possible and look forward to hearing from the Government when sitdown guests will be allowed back.

“We’ve had a great time at St Annes and thanks so much to all the customers for their loyalty over the years.

“The business has grown so much, my initial thought was to open a second location.

“But when I saw that Park View was available, it made sense to switch the business there.”

While the five members of staff who worked at the tea rooms up to lockdown are on furlough, Carla and Naj have been busy delivering at weekends to an ever-growing list of eager afternoon tea customers.

Father’s Day this weekend has long been sold out and Carla said: “The deliveries have allowed us to keep the business going during lockdown and we are so grateful to everyone for their custom.”
