Mereside Post Office on Langdale Place shut earlier this week as a result of ‘unforseen circumstances’ due to illness.

Bosses say they hope to restore the service as soon as possible.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Mereside Post Office due to unforeseen circumstances.

“We would like to reassure customers that we are working hard to restore the service to the community as soon as possible.”

Customers are being advised to use the nearest alternative braches at 193-195 Preston Old Road, Marton, and at Daggers Hall Lane Post Office, 157 Vicarage Lane.

A sign on the front of Mereside Post Office, dated Monday, advises customers of the closure “until further notice.”

In 2014 Mereside Post Office closed for just over a week when work was done to revamp the property, which re-launched with extended opening hours of 28 hours a week.
