Margaret’s Florist has been established for 65 years and for much of that time has been a prominent sight at the corner of Wood Street and Park Road in St Annes town centre.

But when the opportunity arose to move to bigger premises across Wood Street – the shop which long housed Whitesides Travel agency – owner Ann Healy had no hesitation in seizing it, and is delighted with the response from customers.

“It has gone really well so far and we are delighted to have made the move,” said Ann, who has been involved in the business for more than 25 years and employs three staff.

“These are exciting times in Wood Street, with a host of new businesses opening recently and the car park area at the top of the street being given a smart new look.

“The area is really buzzing and it is great to be part of that and enjoying the best of both worlds – the footfall with which we have become so familiar over so many years but in a bigger shop which has allowed so much more room for displays and everything else we need to make the most of the business.”

Margaret’s originated in Orchard Road, but has a long history in Wood Street, which Ann is particularly delighted to see being given a new lease of life despite the recent restrictions on business of lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“It has always been a busy, popular street with residents and visitors alike but it is great to see new businesses moving into previously vacant premises, especially in the current economic climate following lockdown,” she said.

“We love it here, are proud of being part of St Annes for 65 years and eager to keep looking forward.”
