Business at Allans Landscapes, in Treales, is growing as fast as the family who run it.

Juggling the demands of their landscape gardening company with their four young children, Allan Newsham and Pippa Bashford decided to seek expert advice about the next steps in growing the firm.

Over a short period the business had grown from a home service garden company to a commercial contractor for landscaping and grounds maintenance.

After winning contracts for several large national companies during the past 12 months, the business needed to invest heavily in plant machinery and equipment. It also had to undertake a large recruitment drive to handle the increased workload.

At the same time, the birth of twins rapidly increased the size of their family and all of a sudden their house began to feel very small.

The couple wanted to increase their mortgage in order to buy a bigger home.

Malcolm Hart, residential and commercial financial adviser at Taylor Patterson reviewed the company profits, assessed their circumstances and ensured he understood the potential growth within the business.

He worked with mortgage lenders and Allan and Pippa’s accountant, and formed the plan to let out their existing home, and raising finance against it to help fund new purchases.

Mr Hart (pictured) said: “Sometimes we have to look for routes that may not be obvious. By working with the accountant and understanding the lender’s criteria we were able to assist the family in accomplishing their dreams.”
