Managers Shane Langdale and Gary Towers are celebrating today after their very own Bloomfield Brewhouse was awarded the prestigious title of Pub of the Year.

The pair, who only took over the pub on Bloomfield Road last year, won over their customers with cask ales, hearty food and a roaring open fire.

Shane said: “Gary and I have run pubs together for 14 years, however seven years ago we came out of the industry and vowed never to return.

“We were approached by Martin Lowe, the operations director of Dorbiere Pubs, who asked if we would consider taking the Bloomfield Brewhouse pub knowing we had been succesful in our previous pubs.

“Gary and I had a chat and intially thought it wasn’t for us. Then we went to have a look at the pub and decided we could make a difference and bring the Bloomfield Brewhouse back to how it used to be.

“It was on the verge of closing for years and years and nobody would seem to get it to work, so it’s great that 14 months on we have finally got it to this point. It’s more of a family pub now. We have a large fire going and candles on the tables and the atmosphere is really nice.

“We now have two great darts teams, two great pool teams, a poker team, a quiz team and also a very succsseful football team.

“All this is not bad going in a year, and for the icing on the cake, winning Pub of the Year 2016 is a great achievment for us.

“Without our amazing team and amazing support from our customers we would not be able to have done this, so here’s a massive thankyou to all of you.”

Gary said: “We are all very pleased and excited. I hope the win will boost business and better our reputation. It can only be a good thing for the pub. A lot of our regular customers have congratulated us. It’s good for us and it’s good for them too, because it’s their pub. I will think we will be entering next year to defend our title!”
