Police investigate attempted arson at Albion pub in Bispham

An arson investigation is underway after a man allegedly attempted to torch a car in a Bispham pub car park.

Police descended on the Red Bank Road at around 4pm yesterday (Wednesday, March 4) after reports that a car was set on fire outside the Albion pub.

The pub was evacuated and cordoned off whilst police investigated the incident.

No arrests have been made at this stage.

The Albion remained closed for the rest of the day under police advice. But management said it will return to business as usual today (Thursday, March 5).

A police spokesman said: "We were called around 4.10pm yesterday to reports of attempts to set fire to a car close to The Albion Pub in Red Bank Road.

"The pub was evacuated and a cordon put in place as a precaution.

"Fire crews attended and an investigation is underway.

"No arrests at this stage."

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene, but the fire had already been extinguished prior to their arrival.

Yesterday evening (March 4), the Albion posted on its Facebook page: "Due to an incident that occurred outside the premises today, the Albion is closed this evening on police advice.

"However we will be open as normal tomorrow."
