New chairman revealed at county's Institute of Chartered Accountants

Robert Sheffrin has been elected president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales’ Lancashire and South Lakeland branch.

A specialist in SME finance, his international career includes venture capital fund management, director of the UK Business Angels Association, adviser to governments and traditional finance roles.

He is currently investment director for the Investment Readiness Programme at the University of Central Lancashire.

He succeeds Neil McMillan, a partner at McMillan and Co who led last year. As President, Robert will represent Lancashire and South Lakeland’s 1,860 members.

He will also oversee the delivery of member services, including professional development courses, and technical and networking events. He will be supported in this role by deputy president Shru Morris, chief executive of Napthens Solicitors.

Robert said: “It is an honour to represent chartered accountants in Lancashire and South Lakeland. As President, I aim to raise the Institute’s profile by ensuring that members’ views are promoted effectively on accountancy and business issues.”

“I also aim to build on the society’s excellent work by continuing to deliver high-quality events to support members whether in practice or business, especially those affected by the current crisis”.
