Main South Shore road shuts for waterworks
A major waterworks project moved to St Annes Road yesterday, with the main South Shore route hit as a result.
The road was made one-way heading south, while barriers were put up from the junction of St Luke’s Road to the traffic lights at Highfield Road, so United Utilities could continue its pipe-laying operation in the area.
The water firm is building an underground storage tank in nearby Fishers Field, and is also installing new sections of pipe from its Lennox Gate pumping station to connect the tank to the existing sewer system.
The roadworks in St Annes Road are expected to last for three weeks, United Utilities told The Gazette previously.
