“Blackpool is one of the nation’s most beloved tourist destinations, and we’re very much looking forward to getting down to business in the resort, working alongside the property’s owners.”

It will be the 56th hotel run by the £220m turnover group which also has private label and branded properties, including IHG, Hilton, Accor, Marriott, Best Western and Wyndham hotels.

No details of any immediate plans have yet been revealed.

The 180 bedroom building which has played host to the likes of Winston Churchill was sold for £12.8m at the end of January.

It was formerly part of The Hotel Collection and features 180 guest rooms and 14 meeting rooms, accommodating up to 600 delegates plus a health club, swimming pool, children’s playroom and the popular Palm Court restaurant.
