Flats project earns property firm award

Homestead, which is based on Wood Street, St Annes, was acknowledged as the best in the country ahead of 300 other eligible Association of Residential Management Agents (ARMA) members.

Homestead specifically won the award for their work in managing the £2.5m project to rejuvenate 104 flats at Seven Rivers on Samuel Street, Fishwick in Preston.

The ARMA-Q Award is organised by the ARMA as part of the ARMA-Q project.

The project makes life better for people living in blocks of flats by sharing best practice amongst residential management companies.

The award that Homestead won is judged by a panel representing residents throughout the UK.

For Homestead, managing director David Bentham, said, “This is a huge honour for Homestead in what was one of the most challenging projects we have ever delivered. And it’s a wonderful demonstration of what you can achieve with the right blend of professionalism and determination – even on a tight budget and for the most poorly-insulated properties.

“At Seven Rivers we created super-efficient buildings by installing high-quality double-glazed window units and thermal insulated cladding. We also installed bio-mass boiler system to provide heating and hot water to each of the 104 properties.

“The combined impact of our work means residents now enjoy a huge 75 per cent saving in domestic fuel costs.

The total cost of the project was paid for by Scottish and Southern Electricity from their Community Energy Saving Programme fund.

Homestead manage servicing and maintenance for 6000 North West homes.
