The former director of the CBI and prominent business advisor has been announced as the headline speaker for the annual North West Society of Chartered Accountants (NWSCA) dinner.

Billed as the ‘ultimate’ networking event in the North West, it will be held at the Hilton Hotel on November 27, when delegates will be able to share Lord Jones’ views on why SMEs are the lifeblood of the UK economy and hear tales of his journey from corner shop to House of Lords.

“They should grasp the opportunity to come along and bring their guests to hear his sometimes controversial but always highly entertaining views.”

Mark Schofield, managing director of Lancashire-based chartered accountants, Haworths, will preside over the black tie dinner, as he continues his tenure as NWSCA president for the second consecutive year.

He said: “There will be no awards ceremony this year and instead we will focus on making this the ultimate networking opportunity for the region’s professionals.

“The NWSCA awards dinner is usually a sold out event, filled with prominent figures from the area’s legal, financial planning and accounting sectors. We promise to continue that tradition with a number of key sponsors already signed up and tickets selling fast.”

The evening has already attracted six sponsors; Taylor Patterson, AFR Consulting, Forbes Solicitors, Enterprise Ventures, the Rosebud Fund and Begbies Traynor.

Mark continues: “This type of event has always been a great forum for meeting new contacts, catching up with former colleagues and doing business and the 2014 NWSCA dinner will be no exception.

“Plans are afoot to re-introduce the awards in 2015 and this year’s dinner may even give attendees a little inspiration for nominations!”
