Crust top: Blackpool bus passengers can now order Domino's Pizza to their next stop
Blackpool has a solid track record of being at the forefront of new and big ideas.
We’ve built a giant Tower, opened what was at the time the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in Europe, and continue to attract tourists from around the globe with our world famous Illuminations.
And now, unlike anywhere else, our bus passengers can order pizza from the comfort of their seats – and have them delivered to their chosen stop.
Inspired by music producer DJ Artwork, who successfully ordered a piping hot ham and pineapple pizza to his next stop while on a five-hour train journey from Glasgow to Sheffield at the weekend, Domino’s in Blackpool is offering passengers on the Catch 22 service from Mereside to Cleveleys a slice of the action.
The fast food giant’s local operations director, David Woods, said: “We like a challenge at Domino’s, so after successfully delivering pizza to a train, we wanted to go one step further and offer people pizza to a bus.
“Those aboard the Catch 22 can curb their hunger by ordering a fresh, tasty pizza whenever and wherever they fancy.”
The service – which allows passengers to order by phone – is being trialled in Blackpool, and could be rolled-out further if it proves to be a success.
Domino’s said the first commuter to order was Aaron Ryder, who said: “I was on my way to a lunchtime shift at work, when the bus driver announced the new delivery service over the tannoy.
“I love a Mighty Meaty pizza so was straight on the phone to see if I could get it before my journey ended – I did and it was delicious.”
Service 22 links Mereside and South Shore with the town centre, Claremont, Bispham and Cleveleys.
The route also serves Blackpool & Fylde College’s Bispham College in Ashfield Road.
