Councillor Simon Bridge, portfolio holder for Street Scene, Parks and Open Spaces at Wyre Council said: “We are delighted to get this service back up and running.

"Our staffing levels have been affected which is why we had to suspend the service, however we are now doing everything we can to get the service up and running as normal, as soon as possible.

"Whilst we hope that green bins will be collected on the normal scheduled days, it is anticipated that the service will be disrupted and on some days we will experience difficulties completing collections of all green bins. If we haven't been able to get to you, please leave your bin out and we will return on another operational day to collect - usually within 2 working days.

"We would ask for your continued understanding during these challenging times. The crews have been extremely grateful for the positive messages of support they have been getting while making collections."

The council said customers on an assisted collection should ensure access to the bin.

Only green waste within bins from properties subscribed to the service will be collected and no additional green waste will be taken in order to avoid creating further service disruption.

When the new subscription year is confirmed, those that have already re-subscribed to the 20/21 year do not need to do anything. Those who have signed up to the direct debit service will receive an email from the council's direct debit provider, Go Cardless, advising them of payment mandate instructions.

In the future there will become a new anniversary date for the green waste collection service. The subscription sticker template for 2020-21 had already been printed ahead of the decision to suspend, so when customers receive a new sticker it will have an expiry date of the 30 April 2021 - however this will automatically be extended to the new re-subscription date.

Anyone who has not yet subscribed to the green waste service, can still sign up, via www.wyre.gov.uk/greenwaste
