Yayzi Broadband is due to go live from the first day of March after engineers from partner firm ITS were out on the streets to install connections.

Yayzi director Liam Mulryan said the internet services provider would offer full fibre, symmetric gigabit broadband, with same upload and download speeds, to residential and commercial premises.

He said most ISP’s offer asymmetrical broadband, the download speeds are usually up to 80mbps while the upload is around 20mbps, while Yayzi’s Gigabit service operates 920mbps for both to the premises.

He said: “Upload speeds are a vital part of internet in the modern world for what is known as ‘packet overheads’. This is where a computer will download a piece of information and send a ‘packet’ back to confirm that piece was received and is ready for the next piece.

"With video conferencing and remote working, computers are sending lots of packets back to request the next piece, if the upload is limited then the download is throttled or bottle-necked.”

He said with symmetrical speeds that bottle-neck simply does not exist, again the speed of a users computer can restrict that.
