The sector has been identified by Lancashire County Council as one with high growth potential.

Now, through the Rosebud Micro scheme, companies in Lancashire could get from £10,000 to £49,000 to support their development plans.

County Councillor Niki Penney, chairman of Lancashire County Developments Ltd (LCDL), said: “If you’re looking to grow your business, the county council’s Rosebud Micro finance could help your growth ambitions.

“Companies sometimes need extra funding to support their big idea.

“Rosebud Micro can be used to support your business – whether it’s to develop a new product, to buy new equipment, recruitment or to help open up new markets.

“We have sector-specialists who can offer support and advice, which helps to flag up opportunities for your business.”

One company from the sector recently helped by Rosebud Micro is Forbes Watson, an accountancy and business advice practice based in Church Road, Lytham.

It was set up in August 2012 by Simon Cox, a chartered certified accountant.

He said: “Our finance from Rosebud Micro will be used to develop and market a new product called Snap and Save – a way to take a photo of your receipts and upload it to your financial accounts so that they are up to date and you have good financial control of your business.

“We’re pleased that the development of Snap and Save is anticipated to create new jobs.”
