Blackpool Pleasure Beach has announced it is preparing to reopen in July with a "range of new policies and procedures" to keep guests safe.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach has announced it has been preparing to reopen next month since closing two and a half months ago on March 21.

Officials reassured guests that they would "always act in accordance with government and health authority guidelines" after announcing the parks initial intention to stay open during the coronavirus pandemic on Thursday, March 19.

A number of changes to improve and enhance their cleaning and sanitisation routines had been made, but they later confirmed the park would close as a result of the "escalating situation with Covid-19".

But bosses have now confirmed the park is set to reopen its doors once again on July 4 "in line with current government guidance."

A spokesperson for Blackpool Pleasure Beach said: "We will be introducing a range of new policies and procedures to ensure our amusement park remains as safe as possible for all our guests.

"In line with current government guidance, we expect to be able to reopen Blackpool Pleasure Beach on June 4, 2020.

Thrillseekers can expect to see a range of new social distancing and security measures for visitors and staff when visiting the outdoor amusement park.

These include possible temperature checks at the park entrance, mandatory use of face coverings on certain rides and new hand sanitiser facilities.

Some of the changes the park is implementing include:

- A cap on the number of guests allowed on the park on a daily basis

- Empty seats between guests on certain rides

- A range of new, more frequent and enhanced deep cleaning measures on rides and attractions

- Staff equipped with a range of appropriate PPE to protect team members and guests

- Social distancing measures in queue lines around the park

- Contactless payments instead of cash
