The first phase of the contract is already under way on site to install a grey water harvesting system, as part of the scheme’s water/energy conservation measures.

The utilities arm of Ameon has also been appointed to install elements of the development’s utilities infrastructure, part of which will involve Ameon Utilities working on behalf of United Utilities on the project. The Holiday Inn and IBIS Budget hotels will be served by a combined energy centre, which will provide the main utilities for each.

Measures to reduce the carbon footprint of the hotels will include the harvesting of ‘grey water’ for reuse, together with a central air handling plant, variable refrigerant flow air conditioning, bedroom energy saving controls and eco-lighting in bedroom and communal areas across both sites.
