Aldi confirms start date for construction at Bispham site

Aldi has confirmed when work will begin on its new store in Bispham.

A new Aldi supermarket, which will create at least 40 new jobs, is set to open in the current Poundstretcher store on Holyoake Avenue in Bispham.

A sign appeared in Poundstretcher's window confirming its closure this week, with a closing date set for Friday, February 26.

Its sister company Pet Hut will also vacate the premises.

Aldi has now confirmed construction for its new store will start next month, with the anticipation of opening to the public in Autumn.

A spokesman for Aldi said: "We will begin construction of our new Holyoake Avenue, Blackpool store in March and plan to open the store in the Autumn.

"This will create up to 40 jobs and enable local people to shop and save closer to home."
