Queen of Burlesque tops the bill

Bringing the ‘glitz and glamour of a classic Las Vegas revue’ to North Pier from next week is new production The Girlie Show.

The Showcase Dancers will be joined by Blackpool’s own ‘queen of burlesque’ Satine Di Monte - real name Sue Knight, and singer Johnny O Connor.

The Girlie Show is a new production created especially for Blackpool North Pier, by Showcase Entertainments International Ltd.

It will premiere on Thursday, with performances also scheduled for September 18 and 25, and October 9 and 25.

A spokesman said: “This will be a Las Vegas-style production with lavish sets, beautifully designed costumes and will celebrate the beauty and grace of the female form.

“It will be dressed from head to toe in sequins, feathers and rhinestones and will transport you to a magical world of Burlesque for an evening of fun and fantasy.

“With seductive performances from the queen of burlesque Satine Di Monte (pictured) and the sensational Showcase Showgirls and boys this show is not to be missed.” Burlesque has enjoyed something of a resurgence in recent years, partly fuelled by - and as an extension of - the popularity and continuing growth of the vintage scene. The show features topless dancers.
