Pop your corks for Bucks Fizz

Bubbly pop band Bucks Fizz - who actually made notoriously 'nil points' Eurovision judges pop their corks in pre-Brexit days - play Fleetwood Marine Hall on October 22.

The Make Believe tour features the music of one of the UK’s biggest pop acts - who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 with a catchy chart topper which also featured a skirt ripping dance. Making Your Mind Up went to number one in nine countries, and was followed by 20 hit singles including My Camera Never Lies and Land of Make Believe.

More than 30 years on originals Cheryl Baker and Jay Aston with founder member Mike Nolan - are still are still strutting their stuff in a tour which marks the 35th anniversary of their Eurovision win, this time performing with guest member Bobby McVay.

They were one of the early ‘manufactured’ bands, meeting as strangers and told “you are now Bucks Fizz”. They were thrown into eight weeks of rehearsing styling, interviews and photography ahead of winning win the Eurovision in Dublin that year. Cheryl owns up to enjoying working with Jay and Mike more than ever before and admits: “I never dreamed I would still be singing Making Your Mind Up 35 years on, but now I’m here I’m so glad that I do.”
