Family favourite The Sound Of Music will come to the Winter Gardens’ theatre in July, following hotly on the heels of jukebox musical Save The Last Dance For Me.

Both shows are produced by Bill Kenwright and add to announcements previously made of a new tour of Dirty Dancing opening in August, as well as tours of Blood Brothers and Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat heading to the resort.

Winter Gardens managing director Michael Williams said: “The year ahead is looking great and I have no doubt we will enjoy a fantastic year.

“We want to ensure there is as much variety on offer as possible giving people the opportunity to enjoy some absolutely amazing productions.

“Whether that is shows for all the family, young and old, or a more mature audience, our calendar of musicals is shaping up very nicely.”

Kenwright’s new tour of The Sound Of Music runs at The Lowry in Salford for the Christmas season, starring The Voice’s Lucy O’Byrne and ex-Coronation Street actor Gray O’Brien - although casting for the Blackpool dates, July 5 to 9, has not been confirmed.

The Winter Gardens’ Black Friday deals will launch at midnight on Friday and run for a full seven days, with buy one, get one free on all £15 and £19.50 tickets for these newly-announced shows.

The week of deals follows on from last year’s one-day event, which saw 6,000 tickets sold in 24 hours.

Mr Williams said: “Everyone expects fantastic bargains on Black Friday and we want to be a part of that by offering great discounts to our shows and events.

“We were absolutely overwhelmed to sell 6,000 tickets in 24 hours. But when you have such a large demand many people struggle to get the bargains so we’ve decided to extend Black Friday to a seven-day offer to ensure as many people as possible enjoy the bargains.
