The show, hosted by Blackpool BID and PCW Wrestling, saw international grapplers and the best of British hit the ring in fine style.

Originally planned for St John’s Square, organisers took the decision to move indoors due to poor weather forecasts.

Town centre and BID manager Eileen Ormand said: “It went brilliantly, I had no concept of just how popular it would be.

“The ballroom did us proud; we opened the balconies and it was packed. We flew in stars specially from America for the event, Mr Anderson, Too Cool and Bubblegum to name a few, but with the combination of the single wrestlers and the tag teams, everyone seemed to have their favourites.”

Eileen said people had travelled to Blackpool specially for the free event, many of them also staying over and making a break of it for the Bank Holiday weekend.

“It’s definitely something we’ll look at doing again,” she added. “Not everybody can afford tickets but this was free and meant there were lots of families and young children who came along.”
