Money really does grow on trees!

More than £2,000 has been raised for the Winter Gardens thanks to last weekend’s Christmas Tree Festival.

The two-day event ran at the Derham Lounge at the complex, hosted by the voluntary team at the Winter Gardens’ Trust.

A total of 55 trees were entered into the competition, and were voted on by visitors to the festival.

The winning entries were Lawson Road Allotments and St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School.

The trees were a combination of real, artificial and hand-made features, presented by schools, businesses and community groups.

Elaine Smith of the Trust said: “The trees are so colourful and beautifully decorated, it’s a great start to the Christmas season.”
