Festival feel to bumper holiday

Get ready for another big weekend of live music in Blackpool as Livesounds 2015 comes to the Blue Room.

Staged over the May Bank Holiday weekend (May 22-24), the event promises three consecutive nights of top acts from across the UK.

And among the acts lined up are rising stars of the British rock scene and South by Southwest Festival featured artist God Damn

They will be headlining the Sunday night(May 24) with support from Liverpool’s Big Nothing, Blackpool’s very own Downers and new additions Peur.

Saturday sees London’s SULK headline – described recently as “The Stone Roses if they signed to Creation.”

Support acts on the night will be Good Foxy and The Dots.

Friday hosts a Manchester band that have been performing for a number of years.

In August 2012 AAAK [As Able As Kane] embarked on their highest profile appearances to date, five shows supporting Red Hot Chili Peppers in eastern Europe.

But they’re in Blackpool for the bank holiday with support from Mr. Heart, Jekyll and Westways.

Don’t forget there’s live music this weekend with sets from The Alexines, Tourist Attractions and Related To Lions.

As usual the music starts at 9pm and entry is free.

Entries are also being taken for the Blue Room’s battle of the bands with the first heat confirmed to take place on June 17.

• May Bank Holiday weekend is also festival time at The Golden Eagle on Warren Drive, Anchorsholme.

The pub will be hosting three consecutive nights of live music, kicking off on Friday, May 22 with Dirty Work, Doug Perkins and The Spectaculars, The Sonic Jam Project and The Auditors.

Black Pearl are the headliners on Saturday, May 23 with Sorted, X-Ray Cinema, Jekyll, Solid States, Free Roll, Bosh Claret, Cartoon Food, Borders of Dawn and Whisper also lined up.

On Sunday night it’s the turn of De Palma to entertain with extra help from The Atmospherics, Shiver, The Cobras, Paul Huson, Slander, The Musketeers, The Lost Archives, Insomnia and Catch 22.

• There are plenty of bands on show at Fleetwood Town Football Club this weekend as the League One side host their annual family fun day.

Flip, Bob On, The Atmospherics, The Jeps and Monster Squad are all on stage at the event which also includes a ‘legends’ football game.
