Cambridge beckons for a Winstanley College high-flyer - Gillian Blake, 18, earned herself a whopping 5 As and a B in her A-levels and she will be starting an English Literature degree at the University of Cambridge next month.
Gillian, who lives in Ashton, received As in Mathematics, French, Law, General Studies and English Literature along with a range of extra-curricular activities, including the Young Enterprise in which she helped open up a recycling business.

She also gain a B in an extended project in which she explored her favourite writer, Dostoyevsky.
She said: "I checked my results on the UCAS website this morning so I knew I had got into Cambridge, but I wasn't expecting those grades at all."
