A HUNDERED young dancers are wanted for roles in English Youth Ballet’s production of Swan Lake in Preston.

On Monday November 19 young dancers from the North West of England are being invited to audition for roles in the professional production of the ballet favourite Swan Lake at Preston Charter Theatre on April 5 and 6 next year.

Award-winning English Youth Ballet (EYB) is holding auditions for 100 dancers aged eight to 18 to perform the corps de ballet and soloist roles in the production. Auditions are at 4.30pm (on the stage) for dancers aged 8 to 11 and 6.45pm (on the stage) for older dancers aged 12 to 18.

The audition is an experience in itself as all the dancers will take part in a 90 minute ballet class on the stage and their parents are invited to watch from the audience.

EYB director Janet Lewis MBE says: “Dancing with EYB is all about performance experience. The opportunity to perform with EYB is unique. The young dancers are coached by and then perform alongside international principal artists. Our large cast ensures that each ballet is performed with the scale and grandeur which was originally intended. The company is one of the largest in the UK and comprises seven professional principals.

It is advisable to pre-register for the audition – but it is possible to register on the day. For more information contact 01689 856747, email or visit
