Youngsters from Phil Winston’s Theatreworks are to present a special fund raising show for the Macmillan Trust following the tragic death of the mother of one of the school’s students.
On the last night of their recent Grand Theatre show The Works, student Sophie Gillott heard that her mum Louise Mackenzie had died.
“She didn’t know that her mum was that close to the end so it was very sad but we thought that we would put on An Evening of Song to raise funds for the Macmillan Trust as a tribute to her,” said Marie Cavney from Theatreworks.
The show will be held on May 24 in the Lawrence House Studio at Blackpool Grand Theatre from 7.30pm.
It will consist of two 30-minute sets of various musical theatre songs and the proceeds will go to Macmillan. Tickets are £10 each and a second night is possible if all 80 seats for the first show sell out.
A new edition of The Works is being staged at the Grand Theatre on July 15 and 16.
