WHEN the Stereophonics announced a small UK tour – including a date at the Empress Ballroom – tickets sold out within 20 minutes.

But fret ye not – here is a chance to win not only tickets for the Blackpool gig but a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the band soundcheck as well.

The Gazette has teamed up with the band’s management to offer this unique prize to witness a private gig from Kelly Jones and the rest of the lads.

It is a fantastic prize, not least because the Stereophonics are bona fide rock royalty.

Since bursting from the Welsh valleys with critically acclaimed debut album Word Gets Around in 1997, the band have racked up hit after hit and are one of the few groups to have survived from the Britpop era – a sign of how good they are at what they do.

They play the sold out Empress gig on Tuesday March 26. Our competition gives you the chance to win two pairs of tickets for the concert, plus each winner and their guest will also be given exclusive entry to the band’s soundcheck earlier in the day where the Stereophonics will play to a handful of competition winners and friends. The Empress gig is part of a series of 10 intimate shows the Stereophonics are playing in advance of a UK arena tour in the autumn.

The band’s brand new album “Graffiti On The Train” is out this week (on Stylus Records), and follows hot on the heels of their new hit single “Indian Summer”. The band worked with Bond film composer David Arnold on the new album.

Stereophonics have enjoyed huge success in the UK over the last 15 years, including five number one albums, 10 top 10 singles – plus a number one hit single with Dakota.

The band have also headlined big summer music festivals both here and across the globe.

But the moment you’ve been waiting for – the competition question. To be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets for the gig and the soundcheck, we need you to tell us the name of the Stereophonics debut album?

Email the answer, with your name, address and mobile phone number, to steve.canavan@blackpoolgazette.co.uk Closing date for entries is noon on March 15. There is only one condition – both the winners and his/her guest must be over 18 years of age.
